Mindset Coaching for Anxious High-Achievers

I have a small private coaching practice where I work with motivated individuals who want to overcome the inner obstacles to success and wellbeing.

Who Is It For?

Mindset coaching with Nick is a good fit if:

  • You identify as high-performer, high-achiever, or striver. Regardless of how you define success, you’ve always been wired to chase after it. You’re goal-oriented, ambitious, and hard-working, but also thoughtful, curious, and open-minded.
  • You feel held back from your full potential by anxiety. You’re high-functioning and successful in most if not all areas of life, but you know there’s another level on the other side of fear and doubt. You want to continue working and performing at a high level but with less stress and anxiety.
  • You want a fresh approach to personal growth. You’re looking for something more growth-oriented than therapy, more individualized than courses, and more nuanced than executive coaching. You like my approach to emotional health, but want something more structured and personalized than you can get in my articles or courses.

What Issues Does Mindset Coaching Address?

My coaching work is specifically for anxious high-achievers who feel held back by anxiety-related issues, including:

  • Self-Doubt & Low Confidence. You know intellectually that you’re talented and not inferior, but you often feel like an imposter and unworthy despite all the evidence to the contrary.
  • Performance Anxiety. Most of the time you’re fine, but certain situations like flying or speaking in public trigger waves of panic and intense anxiety that interfere with your ability to perform at your best.
  • Procrastination & Avoidance. You have personal, professional, or creative goals that you chronically avoid or procrastinate on despite a strong desire to see them through. You sense that your blocks are internal but haven’t been able to work through them on your own.
  • Insomnia & Sleep Anxiety. You’re an overthinker who has trouble “shutting off” your brain and frequently feel “tired but wired.” As a result, you often struggle to fall or stay asleep.
  • Limiting Beliefs and Negative Self-Talk. Your inner monologue is harsh, judgmental, and unhelpful. You have core belief that you know are untrue or unhelpful, but can’t seem to shake them.
  • Free-Floating Anxiety & Chronic Worry. It’s hard to put your finger on why but you just seem to worry a lot and your baseline level of stress and anxiety rarely goes all the way down.

How Is Mindset Coaching with Nick Different from OtherForms of Coaching?

There are at least three key differences to how I approach coaching:

  1. Academic Rigor + Practical Touch. I’m trained as an academic researcher and clinical psychologist which gives me an evidence-based and rigorous expertise as a guide through emotional obstacles to growth and wellbeing. But I’m also a writer, creator, educator, entrepreneur, and a business consultant, all of which I believe give me an accessible and straightforward touch that many traditional therapists or academics lack.
  2. Agency-Oriented. Despite how they’re billed, most approaches to coaching fail because they become too intellectual and conceptual—which, while interesting, doesn’t result in real change. My own approach is based on helping you develop a high-agency mindset—the unshakeable belief that you can affect positive change in yourself and the world around you.
  3. Deep Focus. Most approaches to coaching are open-ended and cover a wide range of issues and goals. My own approach emphasizes focus in both the structure and content of our work. I only offer time-limited coaching sprints. Additionally, the content of our work will focus on one primary challenge or goal to prevent getting spread too thin and not making real progress in any direction.

How Does the Coaching Process Work, Exactly?

  • Application. The first step is to submit a short application (link below) with basic information like name, location, and what you want to work on specifically. You will hear back from me within 2-3 business days.
  • Assessment Call. After submitting your application, if I have availability and it seems like a good fit given your application information, we will schedule a 30-minute assessment call to chat and ensure that we’re both on the same page in terms of goals, expectations, and logistics.
  • Payment. If we agree to move forward, I’ll send you a link to pay for the coaching package (more details on pricing below).
  • Weekly Coaching Calls. Over the course of a two-month period, we will meet together over Zoom for a total of six one-hour coaching calls.
  • Option to Extend. If at the end of our work you would like to continue coaching with me, we can discuss options assuming I have availability and believe I can continue to be of help.

How Much Does Coaching Cost?

The total investment for a two-month coaching package—this includes six one-hour coaching calls with email/messages access in between—is $3,500, paid in full up front.

Coaching is a significant investment of time, energy, and money. It’s not for everyone, and you should not apply if it would be a financial strain or burden.

I’m Interested. How Do I Get Started?

If you’re interested, please fill out this brief application →

I’ll be in touch within 2-3 business days to let you know if I have availability.

If I do have availability, and it seems like a good fit given your application, we’ll set up a brief 30-minute call to discuss details and confirm that both of us wish to continue.

If I don’t have availability, I can add you to a waitlist and let you know as soon as my availability opens up.

Common Questions

Is Coaching Like Therapy?

Coaching is not therapy. It is not meant to diagnose or treat any medical or mental health condition. If you have an active psychiatric condition that significantly impairs your functioning, coaching is not appropriate.

Here’s one way to think about the difference: Coaching is about growth and achieving your full potential; it’s about going from good to great. Therapy is about remediating psychopathology or clinical disorders; it’s about going from illness to health.

What Is Mindset Coaching Specifically?

Because there are many types of coaching—executive, health, life, spiritual, etc.—I use the term mindset coaching to refer specifically to the type of coaching whose approach focuses on identifying and overcoming the emotional and psychological obstacles to performance, wellbeing, and growth.

Why is your coaching for anxious high-achievers specifically?

My deepest expertise is in the psychological dynamics that govern fear and anxiety. The individuals I enjoy working with the most and get the most energy from are ambitious, motivated, curious, and hard-working. So when I think about where my talents and passion overlap—where I can do the most good in the world and have the most satisfaction doing it—it’s supporting this very specific type of individual, the anxious high-achiever, to become the best version of themselves.

Why do you limit your coaching package to 6 sessions?

I design my coaching package around a time-limited format to encourage focus and a healthy sense of urgency. However, additional or supplemental packages are a possibility if both you and I think it will be helpful.

What if I want to reach you outside of our 60-minute coaching sessions?

I am able to briefly answer questions, clarify issues, and—hopefully—celebrate successes over email or WhatsApp between our live calls.

Do you have a refund policy?

I do not.

What is your cancellation and reschedule policy?

During the assessment call, we will agree to a consistent weekly day and time for our coaching sessions. If you need to reschedule, I will make every attempt to do so, but cannot guarantee it given my full schedule. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I very much appreciate as much advance notice as possible—this also increases the likelihood of finding a reschedule time.

Will you coach my child?

I don’t do coaching with anyone under 18 years of age. If you have an adult child whom you think could benefit from coaching with me, they need to initiate and coordinate coaching on their own.

Thanks to just a handful of sessions with Nick I’m handling high-pressure situations at work with more ease and confidence.

I’m so grateful to Nick for helping me through my anxiety!

I started coaching with Nick to help me with my stage fright. My only complaint? I signed up for ten sessions but after just three sessions he had helped me discover so much confidence that I didn’t even need him anymore! His advice and practical tips were beyond effective. He is an incredible listener with insight I have not found anywhere else. We did wind up using those last seven sessions too. He helped me with another leadership issue that made my business much more effective.

What if you’re not mentally ill, you’re just out of shape?

Nick’s core insight is that getting past your self-doubt isn’t about understanding your childhood, it’s about learning exercises and doing your reps. Nick offers the clearest explanation of anyone you’ll find of what blocks us from confident agency, the most practical advice for how to build it, and years of experience working with anxious overachievers that lets him expertly tailor his coaching to your situation.
